Ninth Annual East Tennessee Young Musicians Bluegrass Contest

The Ball Sisters Band and the Rogersville Heritage Association will host the Ninth Annual East Tennessee Young Bluegrass Musician’s Contest on February 25, 2012 at Hawkins Elementary School in Rogersville, Tennessee; contest will begin at 4:30 p.m. Watch for additional information and photos in the Rogersville Review, Hawkins Today, WRGS radio , The Kingsport Times News and our website.

Contestants 18 and younger will compete in fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo and vocal categories. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded. The Best Overall Performer will receive additional cash and prizes.

Competition will be held for three age groups:

Fiddle: Six and under, seven through twelve and thirteen through eighteen

Guitar, banjo, mandolin and vocal – age twelve and under

Guitar, banjo, mandolin and vocal – age thirteen through eighteen

Entry fee for contestants is $1.00 per category per participant. Each contestant may perform either one or two songs in the competition. Instructors are encouraged to accompany their students.

General admission for the event is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students; children under 6 years of age are free.

Doors open at 4:00 p.m.

The event is a fundraiser for the Rogersville Heritage Association's Heritage Lites Leadership Program Scholarship Fund. The Heritage Lites Youth Leadership Program is a partnership program with the Rogersville-Hawkins County Chamber of Commerce.

Join us in promoting the Arts and Youth in our community by attending this family friendly evening of outstanding bluegrass entertainment. Refreshments will be available for purchase in the cafeteria during the event.
